A busy weekend with travel changes

Warsaw hosts Public Transport Days and the European Tram Driver Championship from 18 to 20 September, bringing major central transport changes. Free events are also taking place in Targówek and Praga-Południe.

No trams on parts of Marszałkowska and Andersa

On Friday and Saturday, trams will not run along Andersa and Marszałkowska between Stawki and Plac Zbawiciela. Some bus and tram routes will change.

Marszałkowska will be narrowed between Świętokrzyska and Rondo Dmowskiego on Friday and closed to cars until 8 pm on Saturday. The diversion follows Aleje Jerozolimskie, Emilii Plater and Świętokrzyska. The metro will generally be the easiest way across the centre, after checking the current WTP route.

Other roadworks

Aleje Jerozolimskie near Warszawa Zachodnia will have fewer lanes towards the centre from 10 pm Friday to 8 pm Sunday. Komisji Edukacji Narodowej Avenue towards Kabaty will close between Koński Jar and Surowieckiego from 10 pm Friday until 4 am Monday. Buses will divert and Ursynów Park and Ride will close.

Allow substantial extra time for a train or flight.

Free Light and Sound Festival

Bródnowski Park hosts a free festival on Saturday and Sunday from 3 pm to 9:30 pm, marking 110 years since Targówek joined Warsaw. It includes family activities, workshops, concerts and food. Illuminations run from 7 pm to 10 pm, with a fire show closing Sunday.

Check the return route and last services before staying until the end.

Sinfonia Varsovia’s renovated spaces

“Sinfonia Varsovia – Nowe Otwarcie” continues at ul. Grochowska 272. More than one hundred September events include concerts, recitals, workshops, family activities, exhibitions and performances. The programme covers 18–20 September and the Crazy Days of Music from 22 to 27 September. Check entry and ticket conditions.

Practical advice

Combine walking with the metro in the centre. Check the WTP website or app before every journey and notices at stops. The historic centre, Grochowska and Bródno are far apart, so allow time for transfers.
