Our weekend ideas

Weekend ideas: culture, walks and sport in Poland on 10–11 October

A film festival in Warsaw, low-cost museum visits in Kraków, football in Wrocław and an international fixture for Polish supporters: a selection to shape your weekend.

Warsaw: a film screening followed by a walk

The Warsaw International Film Festival, held from 9 to 18 October, provides a good reason to discover the capital differently. Choose a Saturday or Sunday screening, then add a walk through the centre and a café break.

Before booking, check the cinema and subtitle languages: not all films are equally accessible to French-speaking visitors.

Kraków: an affordable museum visit and half-marathon atmosphere

On 10 and 11 October the National Museum in Kraków’s celebration offers admission to permanent and temporary exhibitions for PLN 5, except the Czartoryski Museum. A free concert is also announced for Saturday at 19:00 under the Sukiennice arcades, on the side facing the Adam Mickiewicz monument.

On Sunday the Cracovia Royal Half Marathon brings a sporting atmosphere to the city. Visitors can encourage runners and then continue with a cultural visit. Check the route and traffic changes before travelling; this suggestion does not guarantee late race registration.

Wrocław: an evening of football at the stadium

For sports fans, Tarczyński Arena announces Śląsk Wrocław–Lech Poznań on Saturday 10 October at 17:30. The stadium is at aleja Śląska 1 and directs visitors to the club’s ticket system.

Enjoy the historic centre during the day, then reach the stadium with plenty of time. Check entry conditions and your return journey before setting off. This is a fixture between Polish clubs, distinct from a national-team match.

Gdańsk: cinema and discoveries around Solidarność

All About Freedom Festival begins on Saturday 10 October at the European Solidarity Centre and continues until the 17th. The festival combines films and meetings about social issues.

A screening can be the centrepiece of a day in Gdańsk: walk around the former shipyards, then head back towards the centre. Check each event’s time, subtitles and tickets; festival admission should not be confused with admission to the museum’s permanent exhibition.

Łódź: a free event at Piotrkowska 217

Naturalia brings together producers and distributors of natural, organic and vegan cosmetics at the Piotrkowska 217 complex.

Admission is advertised as free, from 11:00 to 19:00 on Saturday and 11:00 to 18:00 on Sunday. It is easy to combine with a walk along Piotrkowska, taking time to discover its courtyards and cafés.

Bielsko-Biała: support Poland in an international competition

Poland’s women’s futsal team, playing indoor football, faces Ukraine on Saturday 10 October in European Championship qualifying. The tournament takes place in Rekord club’s new hall in Bielsko-Biała.

This is our international fixture for following a Polish national team this weekend. The regional federation confirms the date and venue; TVP Sport announces an online broadcast. Check the exact time and access conditions before planning to attend.
