Gdańsk: trams return to Podwale Przedmiejskie on 3 October

Lines 8 and 9 are due to return to the route on Saturday after track renewal. Work on the Gerber bridge will still require alternating traffic on one section. Two replacement links, T8 and T9, will be free.

A date is taking shape for passengers in central Gdańsk. In a release published on 30 September 2026, the city announces the return of trams to Podwale Przedmiejskie from Saturday 3 October. Lines 8 and 9 are due to use the route again as far as Głęboka street, as they did before the summer holidays.

The Gerber bridge remains a work site

Services resume while work continues on the bridge known as the Gerber bridge over the Stara Motława. Between the stops at Żabi Kruk and Chmielna streets, trams are due to alternate along a single track for the coming months. This arrangement accompanies the bridge works.

Free buses to complete the journey

The city also announces the introduction of T9 via Głęboka, Elbląska, Trasa Sucharskiego, Wosia Budzysza, Lenartowicza and Siennicka. T8 is due to return towards Stogi. Both links will be free.

Buses 111, 106, N9 and N78 are due to resume their usual routes, serving Dolne Miasto in both directions. The announced free travel applies to T8 and T9; it is not an announcement of generally free public transport.

A useful reference for the weekend

For a visit on Saturday or Sunday, plan your journey around these changes and check the timetable for your line before departure. ZTM Gdańsk announcements remain the reference for operational details and updates.

The return of trams is a useful step, but the work still affects journey arrangements. Taking a few minutes to check your route will help avoid following an old itinerary saved before construction.
