A free alternative to a standard city tour

On Saturday 19 September, Poznań hosts two outdoor sketching sessions inspired by Leon Prauziński’s postcards. They are listed for 11 am and 2 pm around Plac Wolności and Hotel Bazar. Participation is free.

Who was Leon Prauziński?

Prauziński was an artist and participant in the Greater Poland Uprising who recorded his city and era. He was killed by the German occupiers at Fort VII in 1940. The project combines a historical and educational walk, a museum visit and drawing.

No artistic experience is needed: sketching encourages closer attention to façades, squares and urban details. Bring a notebook, pencil and rain protection. Check the official listing for the exact meeting point and any registration requirement.

Extending the walk

Plac Wolności is close to the former Hotel Bazar, National Museum, Stary Browar and Old Market Square. With another half-day, continue to the Old Town and take a tram or bus to Cathedral Island.

European Heritage Days also take place in Poznań on 18–20 and 26–27 September under a “heritage at risk” theme. Individual activities may require separate booking.
