Security: the morning air operations have ended

Polish military aviation was mobilised early on Wednesday in response to Russian strikes on Ukraine. The Operational Command subsequently announced the end of these operations, Wirtualna Polska reports in its morning article. Swedish aircraft participated in the deployment.

A second WP report, published at 11:15, quotes the command’s spokesperson: the mobilisation was preventive, and the situation had not led to a request to send an RCB text alert to residents of the Lublin region.

Text alerts and military aircraft deployments therefore follow distinct procedures. Official communications remain the reference for further developments; this digest does not describe an alert still in force.

Ostrołęka: an attack at a school

A knife attack was reported before midday on Wednesday at Vocational School Complex No. 4 in Ostrołęka. Wirtualna Polska reports that several students and a teacher were injured. Emergency services and police intervened.

Initial press accounts give differing injury totals. We therefore do not give a final number of victims or present preliminary information as the findings of an investigation.

According to press reports rechecked before publication, a 19-year-old suspect has been detained. The investigation must establish the circumstances of the attack; initial figures may still change.

Economy: the interest-rate decision is still awaited

The Monetary Policy Council’s two-day meeting concludes this Wednesday. The MacroNext economic calendar schedules an interest-rate decision and a statement after the meeting for today.

When this digest was prepared, the calendar did not display an October result. It distinguished a previous reference rate of 3.75% from a forecast at the same level; this forecast is not an official decision.

Borrowers and savers should therefore look for the central bank’s statement. This midday edition does not present a decision as already delivered.

Transport: Warsaw–Bangkok, an inauguration scheduled for today

LOT announces the launch of its direct Warsaw–Bangkok route on 7 October 2026. Wednesday is the inauguration date indicated on the airline’s official page.

LOT’s published schedule provides for three departures a week from Warsaw between 7 and 25 October, then five a week from 26 October. The route is presented as a year-round service.

For travellers living in Poland, it adds a direct option to Thailand. Exact departure times, availability and flight status must be checked with the airline: the launch announcement alone does not confirm that an aircraft has already taken off.
