Fuel: the price caps applying this Thursday

The Ministry of Energy has published maximum fuel prices for 8 October: 6.83 złoty per litre for 95 petrol, 7.71 złoty for 98 petrol and 7.74 złoty for diesel. The statement was issued on 7 October and applies specifically to Thursday.

These amounts are retail price ceilings, not wholesale prices or station averages. A station may charge less; the statement specifies that the fuels concerned must not be sold above the cap.

For motorists, this is practical information before a journey. The figures given here concern 8 October and cannot be used to infer weekend prices.

Baltic Sea: all Baltic Power turbines are installed

On Wednesday, the Ministry of Energy announced completion of turbine installation at Baltic Power, the offshore wind project developed by Orlen and Northland Power. The farm comprises 76 turbines, with announced capacity of up to approximately 1.2 gigawatts.

Equipment installation does not mean the entire farm is already operating at its final output. The ministry describes commissioning, testing and gradual integration into the national electricity grid.

At full operation, expected production is approximately 4 terawatt-hours a year, according to the statement. The announcement marks an important industrial milestone, with anticipated benefits for coastal businesses and services.

Defence: a proposal to respond earlier to hybrid threats

On Thursday, Wirtualna Polska reports Dziennik Gazeta Prawna’s information about draft legislation on state defence preparedness. The Ministry of Defence wants to clarify mechanisms for responding to hybrid threats before conditions for introducing martial law are met.

According to Deputy Minister Paweł Zalewski’s explanations reported by the press, the text would cover the use of armed forces, cooperation with other services, certain tasks assigned to businesses and administration training.

The expression ‘pre-war law’, used in some headlines, is presented as an informal name. This is an announced proposal, expected to be presented within two weeks, rather than a new law already in force.

Jastrzębie-Zdrój: a fire and an overnight alert

A fire at a Biedronka shop in Jastrzębie-Zdrój mobilised more than twenty fire crews. In its report published at 00:35 on Thursday, Wirtualna Polska says everyone inside had left the building before emergency services arrived.

The press reports that the Government Centre for Security, RCB, sent a text alert after 23:00 because of possible air pollution around the fire, in the Bzie Dolne area.

This brief reports the overnight warning and does not confirm it remains active when read. Residents concerned should follow the latest messages from local authorities and the official warning system. The presence of rooftop solar panels alone does not establish the cause of the fire.
