Shelters, equipment, warning systems and secure communications are among its priorities, alongside medical support and training. The aim is to give the services concerned a multi-year framework for preparing their response to crises.

Rzeszów: Swedish Patriots announced for December

Sweden is to send Patriot air defence systems to Poland from December. Polish Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz confirmed the announcement on Tuesday, the PAP news agency reports.

The mission is intended to help protect Rzeszów airport, an important logistics hub for support to Ukraine, and replace the Dutch contingent. The deployment is part of cooperation among NATO allies.

This is a commitment announced for December: the reports of 6 October do not describe these systems arriving on Tuesday.

Economy: the Monetary Policy Council begins its meeting

The Monetary Policy Council, known in Poland as the RPP, begins a two-day meeting on Tuesday. XYZ’s economic events calendar therefore places interest rates in the spotlight.

Interest rates matter to borrowers and savers in particular. But the start of a meeting is not a decision already delivered: this digest of 6 October does not prejudge its outcome or any change in borrowing costs.

Medical research: a Polish accelerator presented to specialists

On Tuesday, the National Centre for Nuclear Research, NCBJ, published a report about AQURE, a mobile accelerator intended for radiotherapy during surgery. The project brings together NCBJ and the Greater Poland Cancer Centre in Poznań.

A one-third scale model was presented at the medical physics congress in Gdańsk, held from 30 September to 3 October. The report was published on 6 October, but the presentation took place earlier.

The news highlights cooperation between engineers, researchers and healthcare professionals. The report does not establish new clinical outcomes for patients.
