Animal welfare: a demonstration announced in Warsaw

For World Animal Day, associations announced a demonstration on Sunday at 13:00 outside the Ministry of Agriculture in Warsaw. They oppose the proposed minimum conditions for keeping dogs in enclosures.

The organisers consider the proposed spaces insufficient for animal welfare. Singer Doda also announced her participation. The reports used describe an announced mobilisation; they do not establish attendance figures.

Fuel: wholesale prices fall

The economic press reports a reduction in Orlen’s wholesale prices on 3 October. Pb95 petrol fell by 232 złoty per 1,000 litres and diesel by 337 złoty for the same quantity, compared with the previous price list.

These are wholesale prices, not the amounts displayed at petrol pumps. Motorists should follow developments without assuming identical and immediate reductions at every station.

Practical news: no major shopping trip this Sunday

4 October is not a trading Sunday in Poland. Most supermarkets and shops subject to the Sunday trading ban remain closed.

Visitors should check individual shops nearby rather than plan a shopping trip to a mall. Some establishments may open under the permitted exceptions.

Culture: film festivals are approaching

October’s cultural calendar is looking busy. The Warsaw International Film Festival begins on 9 October and runs until the 18th. Two cinema events also feature in our selection of activities for the week.

In Warsaw, choosing a screening now helps plan an outing around a cultural event. Check languages, subtitles and ticket availability before booking.
