DIPLOMACY — Poland at the UN
Radosław Sikorski is due in New York from 21 to 24 September for the UN high-level week. Poland’s delegation is led by Karol Nawrocki. International security and the war in Ukraine feature in the announced programme. The outcomes of these meetings remain to be seen.
ECONOMY — Wages rise, employment falls
According to GUS figures reported by RMF24/PAP on Monday, average gross pay in the enterprise sector reached PLN 9,259.54 in August, up 5.6% year on year. Employment fell by 0.8%. This sector average is neither median pay nor the income of all workers.
PUBLIC FINANCES — A reminder from the weekend
On Friday 18 September, Moody’s lowered Poland’s rating from A2 to A3, with a stable outlook. The agency cited persistent deficits and an expected debt increase, while still forecasting robust growth. This was Friday’s decision, not a new announcement on Monday.
SOCIETY — Supporting people with cognitive disorders
The Commissioner for Human Rights scheduled a conference for 21 September, from 11 am to 3 pm, on supporting people living with dementia. Knowledge, support and cooperation are its themes, with an online broadcast announced.
