A parade marking 125 years of electric trams
On Sunday 20 September, Krakow will celebrate 125 years of electric trams with a parade of historic and modern vehicles. Passengers can board at the Podgórze tram depot, ul. J. Brożka 3, from 10:30 am. Departure is scheduled for 11 am.
The parade will travel along Wadowicka, Kalwaryjska, Krakowska, Stradomska, św. Gertrudy, Westerplatte, Lubicz and Mogilska, before continuing along al. Jana Pawła II, through Plac Centralny and al. Solidarności to the Nowa Huta depot at ul. Ujastek 12.
Important: Rondo Mogilskie is the only stop where passengers may join the parade en route. Arrive early at the Podgórze depot, as capacity on heritage vehicles is limited.
A free family day at TAURON Arena
On the same Sunday, the green areas around TAURON Arena will host the tenth Great Ecology Lesson from 11 am to 7 pm. Admission and the activities announced by the city are free.
The programme includes creative workshops, science demonstrations, microscope observations and advice about air quality, solar energy, saving water and gardening. Krakow street artists will create murals live. The day ends with an intergenerational dance from 5 pm to 7 pm.
Visitors arriving by bicycle can also request a free bike check, subject to availability.
Tuesday 22 September: Car-Free Day
The events form part of European Mobility Week, held from 16 to 22 September. For Car-Free Day on Tuesday 22 September, the city has announced free public transport in Krakow.
Operational details may be clarified closer to the date, so check current city and MPK notices before travelling. Special events can also lead to temporary route changes.
Practical advice for visitors
Use a tram to reach the Podgórze depot or TAURON Arena and allow extra time. Check the KMK website or app that morning, carry a valid ticket outside the free-travel day and watch for notices at stops.
The parade is a one-off attraction, while the ecology event is especially suitable for families. Both can fit into one day: spend the morning with the trams and the afternoon near TAURON Arena.
